Zine 01, ‘Elastic Spaces – Context,’ presents the first joint work from SubLab 2 (OpenFactory) of the Klima.Zukunftslabor OpenCultures. The publication is the result of a joint exploration of the concept of ‘elasticity’ and places it in the

The zine is explicitly intended as a working status report and thesis: the aim is to develop a common understanding of elasticity and to sharpen the concept as a framework for thinking and design. It proposes the idea of ‘elastic spaces’ and five design principles to serve as a design compass. The ideas formulated here form the starting point for further work on the project.

In the next steps, the abstract principles will be linked to concrete construction strategies, measures and concepts and further developed in the interplay of practice, theory and discourse. The zine invites readers to follow this thought process and think it through further.
