Pathways to forest resilience following forest disturbance - Management options to safeguard ecosystem services in space and time

Pathways to forest resilience following forest disturbance - Management options to safeguard ecosystem services in space and time

In subproject "Water Budget Modelling", Ulrike Talkner, Bernd Ahrends and Luca Smekal from the Northwest German Forest Research Institute are investigating the processes that lead to a change in water services following disturbance. The focus is on the conversion of damaged spruce stands into beech forests. The questions of climate-adapted forest management and the intensity and duration of changes in water services are key issues for the future water supply in forested catchment areas.
