Barbara Schüssler - Dialogue and Transfer Officer

My tasks at the ZKfN:

I design dialogue and knowledge transfer formats at the interface between science, society and practice. Together with the researchers at our Climate Future Labs, I aim to further develop existing knowledge transfer activities and trial new participatory formats. The focus here is increasingly on creating spaces where different perspectives can come together, learn from one another and take joint action. In this way, I aim to link and complement the ZKfN’s already diverse knowledge transfer work and enhance its reach and impact.

How I came to the ZKfN:

My professional career as an educational scientist and organisational developer has, for many years, involved change and transformation processes within organisations, businesses and educational contexts. In the course of this work, I have become increasingly preoccupied with the question of how knowledge actually translates into change. At the ZKfN, I am able to combine this experience with a topic that is one of the key transformational challenges of our time: tackling climate change. I am particularly keen to link scientific findings to people’s everyday lives and working environments.

My climate resolutions:

I would like to see climate protection viewed less as a debate about sacrifice and more as a shared task of shaping our future. To achieve this, we need scientific insights, as well as dialogue, participation and a willingness to take different perspectives seriously. My hope is that knowledge can lead to understanding, understanding to responsibility, and responsibility to meaningful collective action.
