How can garden soils remain healthy and fertile—and what can science, government, and the urban community do to help? A new publication in the journal “Perspektive – Journal for Applied Life Sciences” compiles contributions and findings from the 5th Braunschweig Urban Greenery Day, held on August 29, 2026.

Among other topics, the focus is on soil fertility and soil life, humus formation, nutrient cycles, green manuring, and pollutant contamination in Braunschweig’s soils. The publication also highlights the event’s transdisciplinary approach: scientific findings are combined with practical experience and local expertise.

Co-authors of the introductory article are Dr. Falko Feldmann from Ludwigsgarten in the Braunschweig Garden Network and Nora Roesky from the Lower Saxony Center for Climate Research.
